ATOMIC DROP – In The Spot Light

Atomic Drop

After hearing Atomic Drop live at Relay (Cable London) I knew we had to hunt these guys down!
This time round from the lads we have an interview, also mix to follow very soon.

1, Who is your favourite ever musician/artist?

Difficult to say but possibly Daft Punk or Led Zeppelin.

2, Who are the 5 people that have influenced your life the most (other than your folk’s or god)?

Black Butter

Black Butter is a fairly new but well established imprint. They primarily release singles but we can envision some long players coming our way within the near future.

This label has been moving from strength-to-strength since its launch in 2010, Black Butter supports the grittier end of the ever expanding bass-led scene with a distinct collective of producers under its wing, citing influences as broad as jungle, drum & bass, breakbeat, house, techno and 2-step, as well as ragga, dancehall, reggae and of course grime and dubstep. The crew are showcasing this genre-defying ethos with Woz and Noisses joining RackNRuin & MC Koast, Trouble & Bass collaborators Tomb Crew, dancehall and bass blenders, Warrior One & MC Serocee, plus the UK Funky duo responsible for the underground anthem ‘Deep In The Valley’, Rudimental & MC Shantie!

This time around we meet London based DJ Menos aka Alex Morton. We have seen him throwing out the beats throughout our travels over the year’s and always impressed with his style, skills and crowd pleasing approach we asked Menos to roll out an exclusive mix especially for Bass Music Movement.

He is also known for his involvement within the hugely reputable club night Innersoul, which is very quickly becoming the who’s who within the Liquid Drum and Bass scene.

DJ Menos is showcasing  his secret laid back side and with this selection we hear his collection stray away from his usual liquid style. So enjoy this 68 mins of Bass Music incorporating a real Garage flavour!

KNIFE PARTY – In The Spot Light

Knife Party

Knife Party are an Australian Electro House/Dubstep duo founded by two members of the live Drum & Bass band Pendulum; Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen.

Their first EP ‘100% No Modern Talking’ was released digitally through Pendulum’s record label Ear Storm. It was also released as free download from their official website and Facebook, as well as being available for purchase on Beatport and iTunes on 12th December 2011. The EP originally was to feature ‘Back to the Z-List’ but was replaced with ‘Destroy Them with Lazers’ as Knife Party no longer liked that track.

“One of the most exciting producers working in the UK Bass scene…”

(iDJ Magazine)

As I write this I’m listeing to his latest Radio 1 Guest Mix from April, well worth checking out!

One of the most exciting producers working in the UK bass scene and based in London RacknRuin has a massive back catalogue to date already. He has been getting some good support from big time players in the game from names “BBC’s Annie Mac, Nick Grimshaw, Kissy Sell-Out, Toddla T, Dj Zinc, Fake Blood, Shy FX, Jack Beats and Boy 8-Bit”.

Known for carving his way neatly through haunting electro-organs and dramatic synth-stabs, his production seems to demand ‘hands in the air’ moments at every turn, while his genre-crossing DJ sets call for all out dance floor warfare.
