LaMeduza AKA Krizia Bassanini is a singer/songwriter and MC based in Geneva. Also producing her own tracks, this multi skilled musician has been making waves in the Drum & Bass scene across Europe, with releases on labels such as Black Seeds Recordings and Liquid V. In this interview, we talk to LaMeduza about the importance of keeping her music style eclectic, early music memories, her inspirations, new collaborations and much more.
1. What’s a typical day in the world of LaMeduza?
Singing, singing and mooore singing! I say this because I am a self-employed vocal coach so my days mainly consist of playing scales on the piano and teaching, then at the end of the day I can squeeze in some of my singing.
2. Do you have any party tricks?
Party tricks? hmmm got any whisky? Then we can talk about it a little more 😉
3. What artists were you brought up listening to and how did they inspire you?
Artists like – Fleetwood Mac, The Police, Debussy, Bach, Chopin, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Queen, The specials, Bob Marley, lot’s of Italian classics…were played quite a bit in the house although the list could go on and on…How did they inspire? I guess not to stay stuck in one specific genre when it comes to what I sing or compose. Jazz has always been around – my father plays the trumpet so that’s where my love for scatting and jazz comes from.
